The Mahatma! Catcher, manager, excutive. Broke baseball’s color barrier by signing Jackie Robsinson. He later drafted Roberto Clemente, baseball’s first hispanic super star. He Also created the groundwork for the modern minor league system. He won four World Series as Cardinals managers and famously said that “luck is the residue of opportunity and design.”

Girl Wonder! Semi-pro debut with all male Vermillion Independents September 2, 1907. Five innings pitched onlu one run given up. Thousands came to see Pro debut at Cleveland’s League Park on October 2, 1907. She threw a natural sinking fastball that baffled the best of male hitters. Alta pitched into the 1920’s and said “I found you can’t play in skirts. I tried and nearly broke my neck.”

Matt Pence & Will Johnson Photo + Art Show
Matt Pence and Will Johnson are having an art show at Good Records in Dallas on Sunday, August 16th. 7-9pm.
